Happy Birthday Kathleen

Five years and 8 months ago I received the biggest surprise of my life.  Seriously- it was even more surprising then when Jesy was called to Iraq.  (Why I was surprised by that I will never know.  We were a country at war and Jesy was in the Army National Guard.  Sometimes my ability to ignore possibilities is extraordinary.)   Anyways, I was standing in our kitchen in Iowa holding a test, thinking to myself "I am going to have a baby."  And then I looked over at Amalie, who was only six months old, and thought "but I already have a baby.  And a Colin".
Having the girls only 15 months apart was not the easiest path to travel.  But it's funny how God knows exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.  I cannot imagine life without my sweet baby girl.  I was so happy to have a second little girl, to give Amalie a sister, and to give Colin another little sister.
I am thankful for you every day Kathleen.  You always make me feel loved and I am so glad you want to live with me when you are older!  You have grown and matured so much this past year.  I am fascinated by all that you have learned and it makes me happy that you have surrounded yourself with such great friends.  Surprises are the best, and so are you are the best surprise ever.  I love you!
